Truly Tasty opens

Quinpool road resto servers, yep, ramen and dumplings.

Boy do I feel stupid. Despite the fact that I've been bumping the font size on my computer up to 14 or even 16, I've been in denial about the need for glasses. And then, a couple of weeks ago, a reader sent me the above photo, of a new restaurant that has opened on Quinpool Road. I didn't have time to include a full write-up in our Shoptalk column, so I just briefly mentioned that I'd soon be writing about, gulp, "Truly tasty women and dumplings."

Even now I see "women" when I look at the photo, and only when I zoom in a few times do I see the "R," and to be honest I still don't know whether that's followed by an "A" or an "O." But, for the record: the correct name is of course Truly Tasty ramen and dumplings (or perhaps "...romen and dumplings").

As much as I like the thought of "women and dumplings," I meant no disrespect for the place, which is at 6214 Quinpool Road, just across from Canadian Tire. I dropped by today to have a proper meal; I had the house special of barbecue pork and spiced egg ramen, and I'm happy to report my taste buds---which are in far better condition than my eyes---were quite pleased. Alas, I was too full to try the dumplings, which the server boasted were home-made, but will try again soon.

Prices are generally $10 to $15, with a less expensive lunch menu. The decor is a clean orange and brown, the service splendid.

My next visit, I'll be wearing glasses.
