Motherhood Fredericton rock trio Motherhood slide into the city on their well-oiled Maritime Machine tour. Their latest cassette release Problems manages to perfect the balance of mournful lyrics and joyful tunes with a sound reminiscent of laughing your way through a break-up. Cheap Gas, American Eric, Born in the Harvest, Once Gentlemen Cheap Gas will rock you until your tank is empty. The high-octane cover band doesn't discriminate between old and new rock, seamlessly transitioning between the tunes of Gogol Bordello, Leonard Cohen and Kings of Leon. Surveillance w/Moon, Elk Lodge, Club Soda Surveillance gets me. Their second demo Stressed and Depressed includes tracks that speak straight to the heart with titles like "Fucked Up and Naked" and "Irrational Depression." Garrison Backlot Bash w/USS, The Town Heroes, Glory Glory, Like A Motorcycle Garrison's Backlot Bash is the best way to set the tone for your summer. Celebrating the expansion of the brewery, Garrison is bringing in food trucks, giving tours of the new brewery and (of course) whetting whistles with fresh beer and cider. The big draw, though, is the killer live music lineup. Superstar Toronto dance duo USS headline, with local support from multi-ECMA winners The Town Heroes, indie pop outfit Glory Glory and rough and tumble punk four-piece Like A Motorcycle.
