Canadian wait staff benefit from a culture created by US wages. In the US the federal minimum wage is $2.13/hr. TWO THIRTEEN an hour if they receive more than 30 whole bucks a month in tips.

In Nova Scotia it is five times that. The same minimum wage we receive to work hard as factory workers, fish plant workers, warehouse staff and office personnel.

That is the same minimum wage others get without the benefit of tips. Tips should not be an expectation, but a reward from those that can afford to give a little extra for a job well done.
