The Dirtiest Drunk (In The History of Liquor) by The Stanfields Directed by Aram Kouyoumdjian

Kouyoumdjian is a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-many in the film biz. Aside from directing the Stanfields’ video in 2010, he also worked in the sound department of Hobo With A Shotgun and the Picnicface movie Roller Town. His back catalogue of videos include ones for Mike Bochoff (Everything Burns), Amelia Curran (Scattered And Small) and Down With The Butterfly (Tanks).

As with a lot of music videos, The Dirtiest Drunk didn’t have much of a budget.

“We called in the band’s fans to help out and had a lot of fun,” says Kouyoumdjian. “Just sticking to the lyrics and telling a cartoony story about a dude’s epic night out.” Prominent in the video are a gang of nasty punks, who include another of our Best of Music winners, photographer Chr!s Sm!th. “It was a last minute call, on mostly Facebook,” says Kouyoumdjian, after the original bad-ass punks bailed on the shoot. “Chris and some folks came out. They did so good, smoking cigarettes for the camera though none of them really smoked. Coughing between takes, looking really tough.”

This year Kouyoumdjian will finish a video for Acres and Acres and get a second opportunity to make a Stanfields video, for their song “Dagger Woods.” “This is kind of a cool one where the guys want to do this Blair Witch-y found footage, a horror story of the lesser-known woods of Pictou County.”
