Best Radio Station For Local Music

Gold Winner 88.1 CKDU

Silver Winner CBC Radio One

Bronze Winner Q104

“It’s always a fun category to win, given we’re the only station to play it,” says station director Russell Gragg about CKDU’s streak as Halifax’s Best Radio Station For Local Music. Not just music, though—CKDU is pushing more content online for streaming and podcasts. “I think our program schedule is the fullest and most diverse it’s been in probably five years,” says Gragg, listing off shows like The Black Power Hour with El Jones and Disability Debunked with Vicky LeVack. “We’re getting a lot of new voices, definitely underrepresented voices, and that’s always been CKDU’s mandate.”
