Cool Lunice

Montreal’s Lunice surfs into town on a wave of swag, just let it wash over you.

You may recognize Montreal DJ and producer Lunice from Azealia "hottest girl ever" Banks' "212" video, where he's doing a cool conga line-style goofball dance with Banks. This Friday at the Palace you get to put yourself in Banks' shoes and throw your booty around to the crucial sounds of Lunice. Of course, aside from that cameo, Lunice is better known for his relatively short but illustrious DJ career.

In addition to putting out mixtapes, remixes and EPs since 2006, Lunice is half of TNGHT with Hudson Mohawke, has insane breakdancing/general dancing skills (that, luckily for you, often get demonstrated onstage), enjoys repping his life of luxury hard on Instagram (oh, you know, just the usual: international tours, sneaker sponsorships, tight jewellery and a hefty amount of weed) and is part of the legendary Montreal Turbo Crunk crew.

Lunice has often stated that his sound is firmly planted in hip hop, but an audible nod to bass music and an open mind that has led to interesting collaborations, including working with Diplo on a remix of Deerhunter's "Helicopter."

Layered, unique mixes bring everything from Juicy J to Spice Girls into the pot, simmered a bit and spilled all over the dance floor, just for you. Don't miss out on the death of swag in the most respectful memorial ever. --Stephanie Johns
