The Winnipeg-based
National Screen Institute has selected
Gia Milani's short film of
Hey Rosetta!'s
The Year You Were Born to be part of the
NSI Online Short Film Festival, an all-year-long Canadian online fest screening a collection of 140 shorts (and growing).
The short was originally made as part of the 10 x 10 Music and Image component of the
Atlantic Film Festival in September 2007, where 10 directors are paired with 10 bands to make a video over the course of the fest. And the song is from the first Hey Rosetta! EP,
Plan Your Escape. The film went on to win the award for Most Unique Film at New Brunswick's
Silver Wave Film Festival.
The Year You Were Born, which begins screening
here on April 25, joins other Atlantic shorts in the NSI fest, including Pardis Parker's
Afghan.
