Hillcrest has been greening their business for years, with programs led by general manager Mike Velemirovich. They include a program to try biodiesel in vehicles, helping the EAC launch the automobile scrappage program Steerclean (which helps get older, higher-emission cars off the roads), marketing nitrogen for car tires (which maintains tire pressure, improving safety, tire life and increasing fuel efficiency) and adopting an "Idle-Free" program within Hillcrest's internal operations, by doing so saving over $3,000 in wasted fuel per year and reducing their carbon footprint by 9 tonnes. Oh, and they offer fuel efficient vehicles, too: Volkswagen Golf (Diesel) five-door, starting at $26,700, 6.7L/100km city
4.6L/100km highway.
