I took in the the industry screening for the Atlantic Shorts Gala (scheduled for Tuesday, 7pm, Oxford) because I think it might already be sold out. I'm not going to say anything about these yet, other than I realized that the real fun of the shorts program is being in a theatre filled with proud filmmaker mommies and boyfriends. Films like Jason Eisener's Douglas Firploitation Treevenge need a screaming crowd. And there will be screams...(a small shout-out to Eric Duncan's compelling performance as "man being raped by tree") but not today. It was a pretty subdued crowd. The only other thing I'll say now is the mermaid in Cory Bowles' The Scavengers is even more astonishing on film then in person. Anne Pickard, who created this creature, hasn't seen it on a big screen yet, so I won't say anything else!
Lunch: some cold (supposed to be hot) wrap thing that had paper stuck to it.
