Jennifer's Body goes for gutsy

Finally, a thriller that's funny, gross with a killer soundtrack.

Oscar winner Diablo Cody goes for the gutsy with a ’80s-style horror romp. Megan Fox, right in her tiny wheelhouse, is the titular Jennifer, who’s sacrificed to Satan by emo band Low Shoulder (fronted by Adam “Seth Cohen” Brody!) so the band can hit it big. She becomes a half-demon instead, feeding on boys to live. Caught up in the drama is Jennifer’s BFF, Needy (Big Love’s Amanda Seyfried, and points way off to Cody and director Karyn Kusama for continuing the lie of glasses=nerd and including a girl-girl makeout). Jennifer must be stopped, of course, and Needy must stop her, of course. It’s funny and gross, packed with a ton of awesome music (including a solo joint from Paramore’s Hayley Williams), pop references (Silence of the Lambs!) and great visuals (minus some chintzy wire work). Jennifer’s Body assures that Cody is not a one-hit wonder—not that she needed to prove it.

Jennifer's Body is not showing in any theaters in the area.
