Ain’t Life Amazing

Kim Mitchell
Ain’t Life Amazing
(Alert/Koch)
He may not be particularly cool or extraordinary, but one thing is for sure—Kim Mitchell has been a staple of Canadian rock radio for nearly 30 years. His brand of cheesy, over-produced rock has earned him a soft spot with tracks such as “Patio Lanterns,” “Go For a Soda” and “I Am a Wild Party.” Initially, Ain’t Life Amazing, Mitchell’s ninth studio outing, feels a bit outdated, but you’ll quickly find you’ve lowered your defenses and this silly grin has taken over your face. Mitchell isn’t interested in keeping up with the ever-changing musical landscape; he relies on the charming purity of his music and that is what will draw you in, no matter what decade it may be.
