Boldly going where he's gone dozens of times before, Tyler Perry dons the fat suit and wig once again for Madea's Witness Protection. When a federal prosecutor (Perry) needs to hide a mob witness (poor, poor Eugene Levy) he reluctantly sends the New Yorker to his Atlanta aunt, Madea. Routine hijinks on silly white people, youth today, and airport security follow suit. Some sort of special award should go to Denise Richards as Levy's trophy wife and Dorris Roberts as his senile mother—both of whom amazingly squeak out some occasional laughs. This is the seventh film featuring Perry's drag alter-ego (not counting plays and television appearances), and even he seems to be growing tired of this schtick. Outside of a dark and gritty reboot, as is the style of the day, it might be time to put this horse out to pasture.
