Zac Connolly could confront cancer on his own but thanks to some of his Halifax rocker pals he won't have to. Matt Mays, the Stanfields and Andrew Hunter are amped to help alleviate some of the financial stress as they lend a musical hand to the Connolly family tomorrow night at Monte's. "We hope that folks will come out in droves for a killer night of music and help raise some funds for little Zac," says Hunter. Diagnosed with stage-four neuroblastoma cancer in May, two-year-old Zac will spend the next several months undergoing three rounds of chemotherapy, radiation treatments and bone marrow transplants. "After hearing the family's situation, we felt very compelled to lend a hand," says the Stanfields' frontman Jon Landry. "It only seems just and fair to pay the kindnesses we experience forward. That's why events like this are important to us."

Fri Aug 12, Monte's Showbar Grill, 245 Waverley Road, $20/$25, 8pm
