Mount Saint Vincent University has a year of important events on the horizon, all in the name of diversity. The Heart and Spirit of Our Communities will see screenings, celebrations and performances opening inquiring minds, starting with a special presentation of the brand new Long Road to Justice: The Viola Desmond Story. An introduction from education minister Ramona Jennex and discussion led by professor Susan Brigham will bookend the locally-made film, which will be used as a teaching tool in public schools. "The goal is to create opportunities for people from diverse cultures, spiritual traditions and community sectors to connect, engage and explore how to foster a more compassionate, respectful community---one that is welcoming, diverse and inclusive," says MSVU's spiritual life coordinator Kim MacAulay, whose interest in helping people learn more about each other helped drive this new series. Upcoming events include a exploring faith on January 15, World Religion Day and a poetry cafe with Shauntay Grant on January 19.
