Rape is horrendous. Assault is horrendous. The start of this article seriously blurrs the distinction between the two. I am a male who was assaulted during my frosh week in the dal quad by a group of nine men and wasn't so lucky to escape with a sore hand. They repeatedly punched or kicked my face even after I was knocked unconscious. Afterwards I felt distrustful of strangers and Dalhousie after "campus security" did little to nothing to help me. There was no one who reached out to me from dal to see if I was okay, I was given no information on where to seek counselling on campus.

Dalhousie needs to broaden these outreach services, programs and education campaigns to extend beyond, while including rape and its victims, to the many more students who have been the victims of violence around the university and on campus.
