Oz gets psychedelic for a good cause

A screening of The Dark Side of Oz helps two Halifax grads get to Kenya.

Strange things happen when you play Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in sync with The Wizard of Oz. Coincidence or not, watching Dorothy and the gang do their thing with a psychedelic '70s rock soundtrack is pretty damn cool. This rare opportunity to watch The Dark Side of Oz at the Oxford comes hand in hand with a great cause, too. This event is part of a string of fundraisers that will help to send two local grads to Kenya this month. Meghan Donohoe and Andrew MacKinnon will be helping with the set-up of a women's centre in Mlolongo that will focus on education and outreach, and HIV/AIDS testing. They'll also be lending their hands to local orphanages and schools. Get advance tickets for this event at Taz Records (1593 Market St) or Obsolete Records (2454 Agricola St), or you can buy them online at darksideofoz.eventbrite.com.

Friday January 7, Oxford Theare, 6408 Quinpool Road, 12am, $10
