PITH gets to the point

Diminished Fifth Records releases the Halifax-based metal band's debut EP, Fore.

PITH gets to the point
A very blurry PITH.

Though Friday marks the release of their debut EP, PITH's been percolating for about five years. After allowing life to interrupt for a little while, ringleader Jason Vautour says the band finally got their "shit together" about a year and a half ago, leading them to record the four-track Fore to be released by the mighty Diminished Fifth Records. "I was just sick of not playing metal," says Vautour (Ruby Jean and the Thoughtful Bees, Jon Epworth, Alright Already), who hasn't played in a metal band for about 10 years. "There's elements of it in anything I do. I just had to do what comes naturally and do myself a favour." Though PITH's been a bit of a revolving door of heavy-hitting musicians Vautour's stoked to have them all leave their mark on the band and its '90s-style death metal. "It's all about creating it, having it and sharing it."
