Still Jamming | Opinion | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

To the editor,

I've enjoyed reading your articles since I discovered The Coast existed and have always felt very satisfied with everything you write. I've enjoyed most bands and musical tastes The Coast has shared, but today I felt heart-dropping disappointment with the comment made against Pearl Jam in the TOC. I'm a fan of Sleater-Kinney and was excited they were opening for Pearl Jam, which happens to be another band I love. I was disappointed such a crude comment would be made against such a fan-friendly band, especially when they're coming to Halifax, not because they are desperate, but because they remember the small guys. Everyone complains about not being able to see big bands, then one comes and we pick up the best local paper to read that? Your writers are better than that. A band who has always been about music, not money, who go out of their way for the underground music scene shouldn't be put down for coming to a smaller town. I'd imagine Sleater-Kinney wouldn't appreciate putting down the band who wanted them on their tour. Finally we get some good bands coming here and they're going to read that and never return. Thanks. You ruined Christmas.
