"This room was what sold us on the house."

What makes this room your favourite?
“It’s very much the hub of the house for us. It’s where we sit and have our morning coffee, it’s where we share time together and just talk,” says Basquill. “It’s a bright space that gets lots of sun and it’s just as much about function as it is just a place we enjoy being in.”

The inspiration: “We’re inspired by our surroundings, we’re both really drawn to being close to the water, so a lot of what we’re amazing to do is casual, modern beach style,” says Trafford. “When we moved in two years ago the entire main floor, with the exception of the living room, was painted in tole-painted murals. Within in the first three months we had to eradicate that so that we could feel like we could even live in the space. We went through gallons and gallons of paint so that we could hear what the house wanted from us.”

The best part(s): “We’re big on artwork, we change the art in there a lot. It’s one thing we tell people—if you get sick of your room, hang up a different painting. The painting hanging in there now is one we got on a trip to Manhattan when we got engaged,” says Trafford. “This is totally our coffee drinking hangout. Saturday and Sunday morning it’s where we are, drinking coffee and blogging. There’s an apple tree right outside the window! It’s a small room, but it’s pretty awesome.”
