Gus, the Museum of Natural History's tortoise in residence, must be thrilled to have some non-fossilized friends to keep him company for a little while. The visiting crew of creatures comes thanks to Little Ray's Reptile Zoo in Ottawa, and gives Halifax a taste of the rainforest until late April. You'll find 10 exotic habitats housing creatures ranging from itty-bitty marmoset monkeys (like, pocket-sized!), to creepy-crawly tarantulas, reptiles of course, in the form of snakes and even some tortoise pals for Gus. You can do more than just feast your eyes on these foreign friends, the museum is running interactive sessions daily, plus educational programs that'll take you deeper into the forest. So maybe an adventure wasn't in the cards for you this winter, but luckily it was for these rainforest residents.
To April 22, Museum of Natural History, 1747 Summer Street, 424-7353
