Watershed Music Festival marries music and food

The inaugural south shore fest wants its audience to take part in the land as well as the shows.

Did someone say hay fields? "This is probably the only festival in the province where you're going to see Windom Earle and The Hupman Brothers on the same stage," says musician Jonathan Biro, organizer of the first Watershed Music Festival on the south shore. The Pollination Project is hosting the festival on its land, where it normally runs workshops and programs to reacquaint the community with sustainable food consumption. Biro says this partnership with The Pollination Project allows him to focus the festival "through the lens of food security, and the preservation of sustainable agriculture," which means it's not all about listening to artists Three Sheet and Krasnogorsk and the Moscow Country Club perform--there will be workshops and activities to get everyone involved. Biro's also set up a shuttle, leaving Dalhousie's Howe Hall at 10:30am (sharp!) and returning to the city by midnight, $16 in advance or $20 on the day.
