Petrie's Halifax Feast Dinner Theatre (1505 Barrington Street) announced yesterday via Facebook, and its website, that the business was closing due to financial problems. Jim Petrie who's been the owner and director behind the Feast since 1989, has written and produced over 50 musical shows, putting countless local actors on stage, during the dinner theatre's long run. He couldn't be reached for comment.

It is with deepest regret that the "Halifax Feast Dinner Theatre" must close its doors. For 29 years the "Feast" has operated as an independent theatrical venture and small business. During that time the dinner theatre has produced over 100 shows, employed over 250 performers and staff. Difficult economic times and the toughest winter to date provided little revenue and contributed to the closing of the theatre, which received no government or outside support in its long and successful run. The doors close having the knowledge that we were often declared the cleanest kitchen in Halifax by health officials and patrons. A heartfelt thank-you to all the patrons who supported us over the years and helped rank us in the top 50 of 640 restaurants in Halifax....."But its the laughter, we will remember , whenever we remember, the Way We Were. God Bless.
