I haven’t seen Scrubs much this year.
It didn’t come back until mid-season, and CTV put it on against Gilmore, so I missed its poignant irreverence. (Yes I am on the Zach Braff is Hot train. I see pictures and know why I shouldn’t be, yet there it is.)
The one I did see changed my life.
JD and Turk were talking. Turk said something sassy and instead of saying “Oh snap” or “Burn” or “Bam” or whatever, he snapped his fingers in JD’s face and said “Kelly Ripa.”They dropped it in throughout the episode -- “Don’t you even be Kelly Ripa-ing me right now” -- and by the end of the half-hour it was in my lexicon.
The week of the Juno issue in March, we were in the office seemingly around-the-clock. (It was our biggest issue ever, at the time, which was bested by the Hot Summer Guide in June.) Things got silly. I said “Kelly Ripa” to or about someone and Marnie busted out her crazy-ass loud laugh we all love. And it stuck.
It’s a popular phrase around here, and we’ll be using it frequently on Bloghorn, or I will at least. We hope you’ll use it too, and pass it on, because the world needs more Kelly Ripa in it, especially now that Hope and Faith has been cancelled.
