Secrets of the city's Rolling Stones contract

Thanks to the Freedom of Information laws, I just got a copy of the contract the city signed for last September's Rolling Stones concert. As you'd imagine, it's 18 pages of non-stop excitement. But somehow the three biggest highlights all occur on the first page (pictured), including highlight 1: The cost of renting the Common for 23 days is one dollar.

Highlight 2: Notice the third clause under "whereas" describes "an outdoor musical concert featuring the Rolling Stones." This is the only mention the codgers of rock get, and it's easily the sexiest part of the contract.

Highlight 3: Although the contract let Events Halifax use the Common from September 4, it wasn't signed by mayor Peter Kelly until September 13. How comforting to see the city's on top of things.
