Standing b4 the cash register at, name the store kent sears zellers superstore etc. I pay for my purchase and am asked if I wish to donate a dollar 4 whatever worthy charity they name. Heres the problem , I give my hard earned cash to the big corporation, they skim their overhead share say 30% and hand the rest to the charity, and later that year recieve a tax write off of 50% from the govt. So 4 those keeping score say $100,000 donated $30,000 skimmed and $35,000 back in taxes makes $65,000 in pure profit, not bad and it makes the corp. look good.

Trouble is the govt. has spent that $35,000 and now they look elsewhere 4 it so they cut IWK hospital funding by $35,000, ah u say but the corp. gave the IWK $70,000 so the hospital is ahead $35,000, true this year. Next year same reduced funding and no charity as the corp. has a new plan so the net effect is more money 4 corps. less tax on the corps. and less services 4 the citizens and higher taxes 4 the citizens, not to mention the money given 4 charity.

Folks we all want a better life so cut out the BS corporate charity rip-off and give your money to the end point >> a homeless guy some winter boots >> food to the foodbank >> cash direct to the IWK and if u really believe in charity don't ask the govt. 4 tax relief.
