Last week we attended my daughter's wedding in the USA. Our connecting flight out of Toronto was delayed and then cancelled because of mechanical problems. I'll give the airline credit for having the good sense to cancel the flight. BUT in the shuffle, they lost our luggage. We kept calling the airline for updates on the lost luggage but were bounced around like smurf balls. Finally by Friday night (eve of the wedding) we told them not to bother sending the bags to the hotel - we'd pick them up on our return flight. They had 2 full days to get the bags to us. In them were all of our clothes, personal essentials, and cameras. Instead of helping with last minute details, we had to shop for everything. In their wisdom ScAir Canada offered us $50.00 compensation to split among the 4 of us travelling. That didn't even cover the cost of the new shoes I had to buy for the wedding. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Were you successful in getting more compensation out of the airline?
