|To the moronic parents that take their children to Seaview Park|
|There are 2 off leash dog parks in the city: Seaview Park and parts of Point Pleasant Park. I have no idea how many regular parks where dogs have to be on leash there are but I know that there are many more than 2.|
WHY IN THE HELL DO YOU TAKE YOUR KIDS TO AN OFF LEASH DOG PARK TO PLAY?
A couple of days ago someone brought this kid on a bike to Seaview and let the kid ride around where the dogs run loose. He had to be only 6 years old. Another time a woman was there with a jogging stroller and an infant running around. People bring kids that can barely walk. People have 'family picnics' in the dog end of the park and lay a blanket down on the ground instead of a picnic table and are totally shocked when a dog runs over to steal their KFC or whatever.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? For fuck's sake use your head. Dogs chase things. If they smell food they are going to check it out. They wrestle with each other. They get rough, they jump. Unfortunately sometimes there are nasty fights. They are going to chase bikes, they are going to chase strollers, they might accidentally run into a kid and knock it down when they are playing or worse yet fighting with another dog.
Use your fucking heads and take your kids to a regular park where dogs are not allowed to run free. Or keep your kids to the end of Seaview where the playground is. I am not going to feel bad if my dog knocks your kid over. As a parent is it your responsibility to use your head and not take a stupid risk like this.
I pay my taxes too and deserve a place where I can take my dog to have fun and just be a dog. Go play in one of the other dog-free parks my tax dollars pay for as well. I'm at Seaview to exercise my dog and meet some other dog lovers in Halifax. I'm not there to worry about your kid and help you babysit.
