Waiting CAN hurt you!
|
This evening (Oct24) a 72 yr. old woman slipped and fell while coming out of Zeller's at the Bayer's Rd. Shopping Ctr. She landed hard and couldn't get up. Myself and a co-worker went to her aid immediately, but we were afraid to move her so we gave her our jackets to cover her (she was quivering) and one for under her head from one of the security guards. My bitch is that the security guard called an ambulance for her and she had to wait 28 MINUTES for it to arrive. He even had to call 911 twice to make sure they got the dispatch right. That's 28 mins. on the cold, hard, tiled ground while injured and surrounded by strangers. We kept talking to her to keep her from going into shock and tried to get as much information from her as possible to help out. We didn't want to move her in case. We found out later that she wasn't seriously injured, but that's not the point. She was frail, frightened, alone, and shaking like crazy. So if the ambulance drivers are reading this, I hope your mother or grandmother never has to endure the suffering this poor sweet woman had to go through while you took your bloody time.
