Ok, I know this may be an unpopular thread given the back and forth regarding obesity on other threads, but I'm so mad I have to vent. My grandmother is 84 years old, has terrible osteoporosis, and is in dire need of a hip replacement. But the waiting list is OVER 18 MONTHS LONG. Her doctor told us it is because the system is over-run with people in their 30s and 40s getting joint replacements because they are so fat their joints can't take all the weight. I'm sorry but my poor grandmother who's lived well her whole life has to wait and suffer (can't go outside this time of year because she might slip and fall) because people who are overweight are burdening the system. Unfair!
