Nova Scotia is truly a beautiful province. There are wonderful vistas and picture postcard towns around every turn. We truly are blessed that our government proudly promotes our natural resources worldwide as a tourist destination. If those tourists knew the reality…it’s a false paradise.

On a day when an African American speaks to 200,000 Berliners about the need for real change, Nova Scotia remains a xenophobic, homophobic, racist land that time forgot.

Like it or not this is a society frozen in a horrible 1960’s pre-civil rights time warp. We live in a place where our largest employers don’t hire minorities. Halifax is a city where immigration was never sustainable or welcomed. It’s a place where public sector workers (cops, bus drivers, social workers, etc…) entrusted with our safety and essential services dish out discrimination and ignorance on a daily basis.

Today when Obama spoke in Berlin about that city he said - “This city, of all cities, knows the dream of freedom. And you know that the only reason we stand here tonight is because men and women from both of our nations came together to work, and struggle, and sacrifice for that better life.”

No more bitching, its time to make changes, for action….who is with me???

I am you
