What is with the elevators at the QEII? I was trapped on one for 20 minutes at the New Halifax infirmary. I was told by the security that the technician was notified and that they have no idea when he would get there. After 3 more calls about 5 minutes apart he could offer me no other information. We were getting the feeling that we could be there for hours. Yeah so big deal I was stuck on the elevator there are worse things that could happen for sure. I had mentioned it to a nurse the next day and she told me she was stuck on the 11th floor on the Victoria building for 30 minutes and the phone inside didn’t work. Finally after 30 minutes the big guy who was on there with her pried the door open with his hands. The thing is it is well known fact known by many of us who work at the hospital that the elevators for the entire hospital are complete crap. If you have been there surely you have experienced a burnt out floor light button. Keep pressing that button thinking you haven’t pushed it hard enough…nope, just burnt out. Not sure if they get replaced and keep burning out or if they just don’t give a shit and can’t be bothered replacing them. Either way it looks like neglect to me. Did I mention how filthy they look? The Infirmary that is, the VG site is clean for some reason. It is just a hospital after all. No important people to impress I guess. I don’t think this would be acceptable if it were say a Hotel elevator.
