Dear Unionized Organizations:
If you're going to hire internally, why do you post your job opportunities externally? I mean wouldn't it just be easier and less of a waste of time to external candidates if you just posted internally first and THEN if you don't find any candidates post externally?
Do you think it's fair to waste the time of external candidates? Schleps who are just trying to get a decent job? It can take quite a while to put together a good application package, and there are jobs are scarce enough in some fields, that making external candidates feel they have a shot at a job they really DON'T and wasting their time is kind of mean.
I'm definitely a union supporter, I've had family members who are/were union negotiators, but, for some fields (such as my own, and the industry I'm trying to break into) it REALLY isn't necessary.
