|Streets of Cole Harbour|
|This one goes out to the people of Cole Harbour who happen to have homes on bus routes. Even though your homes have driveways, I get that you may have a reason to park your car(s) on the street. What I do not get is why common sense escapes you guys when you street park. Far too often I see horrible examples of street parking in Cole Harbour. Why does this happen? People in Halifax often don't even have driveways, yet for the most part they are able to park their cars without getting in people's way. Why do you guys with driveways choose not to use them fully and make life hard for those that have to drive through your street.|
Here, for all you Cole Harbour readers, is a basic guide to street parking:
- Pick one side of the street, park on it. If you see cars on that side of the street, do not park on the other side as this narrows the street so that only one car can get by.
- If your house is on a blind corner, please use your driveway, or park where people can see your car in time to avoid it without sudden manouvres.
- Do not park less than 60 feet from a street corner. It makes turns hard for cars and damn near impossible for buses.
- Quit parking at bus stops. Just because the bus only comes once an hour doesn't mean people won't want to use it. And please park at least 60 feet back of them so buses can actually pull into them.
