Another Metro Transit Bitch!
|
Once again, Jan 7, another storm! It happens every year - we live in the Maritimes! And once again, chaos with Metro Transit.
I left work at 1700h (ARSE end of Bayer's Lake) and went to the bus stop, were luckily for me I have the option to take the #52 or the #21. The #52 did not show up, which I expected anyway, so at 1720 I hopped on the #21 to Lacewood. Hundreds of people were waiting there, in vain, for a bus - any bus - that would take them even close to their destination. At 1810 I decided it was fruitless to wait any longer, and more fruitful to brave the freezing rain and snow and walk home. Walking down Lacewood, I decided to stop at one of the shelters - the weather was brutal - and another lady came by, also frustrated with waiting. She told me that she arrived at Lacewood from Bayer's Lake at 1640 and no bus had been by since. That makes it 1.5 hours with no busses heading downtown or to Mumford. FIVE "OUT OF SERVICE" BUSSES PASSED BY US! There is ABSOLUTELY NO reason why any of these busses could not have stopped and at least taken people further along their journey. The fact that we have to wait for a bus to come all the way from Dartmouth in inclement weather, were there could possibly, and probably, be delays on the bridge or North Street it OUTRAGEOUS! The only bus I witnessed leaving Lacewood (besides the OUT OF SERVICE! busses) was the #89 Bedford! Great! Where was the #2, the #4, the #17, the #42, the #52??????? Metro Transit needs to get it's act together when it comes to transit in bad weather. Change the #52 so that it can operate on the Halifax side alone if need be and the Dartmouth side alone if need be. Not everyone that takes the 52 from Bayer's Lake is going to Dartmouth, and I'm damn sure not everyone that takes it in Dartmouth are coming to Halifax. Or at least mandate the drivers to pick up people even if they are Out Of Service!
Within five minutes of getting home at 1845 I saw SIX, count them SIX, #52 heading up toward Bayer's Lake!!!!!!!!!!
