I'd like to extend my deepest apologies to the family in Hants County who had a FUCKING SEVEN-FOOT TALL FUCKING CROSS BURNED ON THEIR FUCKING FRONT LAWN Sunday night. This makes me madder than any MLA spending spree or snow removal gaffe.
Where the fuck are we living again? I know that Nova Scotia can sometimes be a crap place to live (I've been here my whole life), but I've always believed that the basic decency of the people who are born and bred here supercedes any deficiencies; economic, social, political or otherwise.
I am not sure I can feel this way any longer. Many will say that this is an isolated incident, but it took a group of people to pull of this act of (true) terrorism, in a small community no less. I believe it would very hard for other people to not have had an inkling that this was gonna happen. Shame on you if you knew about this in advance (participant or not) and did nothing to stop it.
No, stopping it wouldn't have cured any racism but it would have been the right, Nova Scotian thing to do. That is, to be brave, upstanding and community-minded. —Seriously Bummed
