Can we get back to making developers build tunnels out of scaffolding rather than letting them take away the sidewalk in front of their projects for what seems like years? The new condos on Gottingen have had the front virtually finished for months. There can't be more than a day's work left on it, but they still have the sidewalk blocked off. This is common for all new projects built near busy pedestrian areas. There seems to have been no contingency plan for pedestrian traffic or for the duration it would be disrupted. Such things should be conditional for any development approval: Clear the sidewalk (and all other public thoroughfares) asap, or face fines. There should be an incentive to get this part done, if for no other reason than just being a good citizen and neighbour. —Walk Around
