Ohh Baby!

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for almost a year and a half. Three months ago, I went to my family doctor and got a referral to see a specialist. While we were waiting for our appointment my doctor sent me for blood tests and my husband for his own analysis. It was discovered from those two tests that we have a male infertility issue. We waited three months to get in, which is fine, as I understand there are wait lists, etc. We also had to complete a long questionnaire with very detailed answers. Understandable.

Last week when we got to the hospital we were excited to finally sit down with the specialist to discuss things and hopefully come up with some sort of timeline as to when we can expect something to happen. I'm fully aware that things aren't going to happen fast, however what I wasn't aware of, was the fact that my husband and I took half a day off work and waited and hour and a half just so I could meet with a NURSE, not the specialist! It would have been ok if she was of some help or offered some kind words but she asked me three basic questions: when my last period was, if I was taking folic acid and ordered another blood test! I just found the whole thing discouraging and pointless, why wouldn't they just get my husband and I to mail the questionnaire so they had some information to go on first, then allow us to meet with the specialist? So here we sit with another 4+ months until we go again. —Really?!
