Nova Scotia is my hometown, as it is for a lot of us. The past few years I've come to grow protective of this beautiful place, despite all it's ups and downs.
Now it's that time of year where student tourists are rushing back in to escape their boring middle-class lives in Ontario and beyond to escape from the clutches of their parents and find the perfect manic pixie dream city. I've noticed that these kinds of people are kind of like friends who come to your house, eat everything in your fridge and then peace out when there's nothing left. Halifax is much more than your new trendy scene. There are so many communities, so many characters, though you'll probably play safe and party with all your new student friends who are also looking to get what they can from our precious city without contributing back.
