There are a lot of reasons why you can go fuck yourself. Let's start off with the obvious one; why would you leave some obnoxious comment in a newspaper rather than asking the editor yourself why the cover allegedly resembled your art? Not very professional, in fact, it's extremely childish. But you only get worse from there. Shit hole town? Halifax isn't a perfect city, but it isn't a fucking shit hole. And if it was, it would be because of fuckers like you who think they're above others. There are MANY artists in this town, who paint a lot more than boats and lighthouses and I am sure, without a doubt, that they are all more skilled and more deserving of praise than your pathetic self. Learn how to be a professional, or no one will take you or your art seriously. And move the fuck away from my town.

Okay, so I got frustrated with Nova Scotia and not making enough money and, like a complete idiot, got a plane to British Columbia and man, do I hate it here. It's true what they say: “You don't know what you got till it’s gone,” and how true. The west is so snobbish and cold compared to good ol' Nova Scotia. I'm thinking of making my way back. —Stay Where You Are. The Rest of Canada Are Assholes

B** about personal safety. I am having a great time downtown Dartmouth in various restaurants and bars. I'm nervous because I live on the peninsula, and worried that I will get beat up if I let that out. Just mentioning it gets a bad reaction, like mentioning 'Toronto" on the peninsula. Is it still ok for me to go to these Dartmouth places? I really like them, but just scared of the people if I tell them I live 'on the other side'. Why can't we just get along? —halivisitor

Maybe Gloria McCluskey should work towards providing tangible help for Dartmouth and her little slice of it instead of relying on hucksterish provincialism to distract from her long past "best before" political relevancy date. —DΛRTMOUTH ITSELF

I'm in Toronto. Stuck here for two years. All I want to do is come home. I feel like an anonymous ant in a city that is impossible to know like Halifax. I want to complain about the Macdonald bridge closures. I want to have ridiculous debates about donairs. I want to take a ferry to work instead of a subway of zombies. Some people may want to get lost in this haze of drones. I want to come home. —ConcreteJungleBlues

You know what pisses me off? These stupid people that fear and want to stop bringing in 25,000 Syrian refugees into Canada, do you honestly think they are not going to be closely watched? Do you think they are coming with belt bombs and AK47's? Why do you even fear terrorists? Is that not giving in to what they are trying to do to people? Do you fucking realize that your more likely to get killed by a moose, struck by lightning or win the lottery than be killed or injured by a terrorist? Even if there are terrorists with the refugees then we are just taking the burden off the rest of the free world where they may strike, yes they may kill if they are not cought, if there are terrorists with the refugees and we don't take them in then they will strike at someone else, so why can't we take some of that burden to stop this terrorism? The price of freedom has always been paid in blood and will continue to be paid in blood until all of the people of the world unite to stop fearing each other. Get a grip on yourselves and stop being racist and start being Canadian helping countries in need. People need to stop being fearful of slim possibilities and get their heads out of their ass. People need to realize by fearing terrorists is giving them the support they are looking for, it makes people dislike Muslims, that leads to racism, that leads to some of them to hate us back feeling unsafe and hated in our country, that can lead to radicalism of those who even were born in Canada that are of that religion and can push them into terrorism. I hate religion and you can hate religion too but don't hate the people who worship it because they are only human like you or me. So please fight terrorism and Stop The Fear. Morn the losses, support freedom but Stop The Fear. If you don't then you will be unknowingly supporting terrorism and taking freedom from innocent people such as yourself by spreading fear and racism that will cause stricter laws the government will put in place to give you the illusion that you are safe. Stop The Fear. —The Spiked Viking

I retired back in April. I still like to go downtown; where I have worked for 34 plus years. Whenever I run into a former co-worker; I get asked, "What are you doing downtown?" Well, I live in Fairview for one thing and we all know what a cultural gem that is. Let's see...I like coffee shops, the new library, the antique store, the art store, etc. I know old habits and all that...On a bright note; I am going to be volunteering soon so as not to disrupt the balance of downtown. —old bitcher

As a resident who lives near the Commons, it's lovely to see people walking by with their ice skates slung over their shoulder, cheeks rosy, and full of spirit following a skating session at the Oval. But come on Halifax, it's no longer a temporary establishment, you know that we love it, so what's with the trailer park? Is the next season of the Trailer Park Boys going to be filmed there? We've proven that we can get it right with the new library, let's apply that thinking elsewhere! —Bubs
