Thank you to the city for issuing a winter parking ban for last night when it was ONLY RAINING. And thank you for giving me one of those $50 tickets for breakfast. What will you do with all the money you are collecting? Oh wait, I know: you'll do what you do best and WASTE IT. — Frig Off

So a winter parking ban is in effect but after our first snow fall there was a screw up. Why because of the start date. Here is a helpful hint make the Winter parking ban to be in effect from Dec 1 to Apr 2 Maybe just maybe doing this and ticketing people might actually help towards the winter budget and actually be able to add salt to the roads and sidewalks keeping the tax payers from getting injured. I have been here since 2005 and about 90% of the time you will not find a grain of salt on the streets or sidewalks in my area. Also the waste of a plows going down a street 3 times. OMG do it right the first time To me it is a simple solution. Every, year the same crap when there is signs of a snow flake or 2. Never prepared and always an excuse of being over budget. What kind of Idiot at the HRM decided to require a password that includes a number, a capital and a character to sign up for email notification of the parking ban? It is not highly classified material nor is it worth a fortune. I hate effin passwords —Dan-da-man

Ok....I am just like many others in this City that have a car that needs a winter parking place...BUT i know there is a BAN so i find one ahead of time. LOL. Thats not my Bitch
My BITCH is about the counsillors who are going in the media and bitch about it. Come on.....That money pays them , Does anyone really believe that they are really that concerned about where you park..............Uteck is quoted in the paper calling the ban a TAX-GRAB on behalf of HRM...Her employer.
I really think she is just blowing smoke up the ass of the people who she needs votes from.
Rest assure she has not worries about getting a ticket where she lives.
It is what it is.

Dear HRM,
Fuck you for leaving me a $50.00 parking ticket, at 6:53AM, for parking in front of my own house. I understand that snow removing is a difficult process in our climate and that you need to enforce a bylaw to protect it, but how can you justify doubling the amount of the fine from last year? Has minimum wage also doubled? What am I missing here? I'm sorry, but that is an exorbitant, almost criminal amount to charge a tax-payer on a night when it wasn't even snowing, in a province where that equates to 6 hours of work at the minimum wage. Fuck you HRM, and all your shitty, greedy, backwards policies.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~******~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have been reading so many posts about how unfair the Winter Parking Ban is..........Are you people serious???
I would love to see any of you whiners try to Plow a street littered with cars at 2:00am.
It wouldn't happen.
Then you would be on here whining about what a shitty job HRM does of plowing..
I HAVE LEARNED ALOT ABOUT PEOPLE IN MY LIFE AND THE ONLY THING I SEE THAT MOST HAVE IN COMMON IS.. "NOTHING IS GOOD ENOUGH".
You all bitch and complain about the taxes you pay but nobody wants to cooperate...Parking on the street during a storm or when the streets need to be cleaned slows things down, that cost money (your money).
As for the Richie Richie peole of our fair city...Come live in the neighbour hood i have to live in...We get the least amout of service if any.
The disgusting cash grab from the poor continues this year. People without alternate parking are the less affluent members of HRM. Those with money are parking in their garages and driveways already and never feel the sting of a ridiculous ticket issued on a warm, snow-free night. Adding insult to injury is the fact that when there is a snow storm, HRM does a pathetic job of clearing the streets anyway - parked cars or not. Go ahead and ticket cars that obstruct snow removal, but STOP this transparent, aggressive, and mean-spirited financial attack on those with the least to spare.
What the FUUUUUUUUUUCK Halifax??????? Seriously? A winter parking ban? Average snowfall in Montreal last December, January and February? 221.1 mm! During the same time in Halifax? 44 mm! In Montreal, the plows come through residential streets in the day-time and blow the horn a dozen times. If you don't come out and move your car, then it gets towed to another block. Why, in a city that gets more ice and rain than snow, do we FORCE parked cars off the residential streets at night (which is the main time when the RESIDENTS are HOME and need to PARK their fucking CARS!!!!!) I hate the winter parking ban. FUCK YOU HALIFAX WINTER PARKING BAN! FUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOOU!!!!!!
Nothing like waking up Monday morning to a parking ticket but at least there was company in misery as at least 50 other people on my street received the same mean-spirited surprise this morning - a ticket for violating the winter parking ban. Great awareness campaign City of Halifax! When I phoned to complain I was told it was in the papers, on TV and on the radio. Well I guess me and at least 50 other of my ignorant neighbours choose to get our information from less outdated sources. Knowing the cost to book all these forms of media wouldn't it be less expensive to send out a notice in the mail? Hey, but if you did that then I and most of my neighbours would have known not to park on the street last night and you wouldn't have been able to rake in at least $2,500.00 in fines on my street alone. Come on Halifax, obviously you did a poor job of informing the public based on the number of people on my street who were as blissfully unaware as I. This first ticket should have been a warning as now I certainly want my date in court to blast your outdated modes of informing your citizens.
