When it started on a Portland street porch I bet you had no inkling you were talking to the woman who would marry you, bear your children- and drive you nuts. You had no idea it would involve a big city and a golden retriever, bland cooking and compulsive planning, growing pains and labour pains, station wagons and sleepless nights, parenting books and parenting brawls, money worries and the endless playing of “pretend”.
