Epiphany of the Ages

Last Sunday, i was kickin' it downtown, enjoying the beautiful day. I saw many people coming in and out of the Public Gardens. What a sight to see. The flowers in their full glory, the trees as vibrant as can be. Two ganders doing what geese do. As I continued, in front of me was the Gazebo. Suddenly , " check check", a sound man doing his thing, a band set up to play. I took a quick panoramic view, and in front in full display were many people awaiting the free music of the day. There were a few families, stragglers as myself, but the majority were Seniors. Some made the trek from their highrises across the street, others drove, but the commonality, was their ages. These were our Seniors of our community out strong to enjoy the sun and music. The music started, and wow, the park came alive. Snapping of fingers and tapping of feet all to the sound bites of blues and Jazz. At the age of 51, I too enjoyed what i was hearing. It sounded great. The most enjoyable thing was that i took a look at these seniors in a different sense. I tried to envision them in their 40's and 50's enjoying downtown, dancing up a storm, enjoying life on life's terms. Now, in wheelchairs, canes, and walkers, still kickin' it at the park as best as they physically can. It was indeed an enjoyable day.

Seniors wish nothing but the best to our future, so I hope that our future gives nothing but respect to our Seniors. I just hope that in 20 years to come, that I can be kickin' it too, to old time music like Led Zepplin, ZZ Top played by the old group April Wine. —Mike
