I know we're not supposed to like anything beyond what we have, but today I'm thankful for that elusive Thing in life that makes things magical, that rare tantalizing glimpse beyond the ordinary drabbiness. The life beyond the details...The Hand That Paints The Sunset, the glimmer in friendly eyes, the breath of air beyond the surface of our phony culture and those nice little slices of life that keep you hanging on. The Goodness that doesn't cost a thing or ask anything of you. Who or whatever You are, god or a bag of jellybeans, thanks for stopping by now and then.... ;) Appreciate it. —The little guy always asking for help

We stood beside each other for the whole concert. I wanted to say hello but was too shy to interrupt your digital communication. If you'd like to go get coffee sometime, leave your phone in your pocket for a minute the next time we meet and I'll introduce myself. —The girl with the braid on the other side of the post

To the group of undergrad gents that volunteered to help my passed out boyfriend and I at the Golden Arches on Quinpool on Saturday night: I cannot thank you enough for helping me get him home. Thanks to you he avoided what would have been an inevitable and all too depressing trip to the drunk tank. —Girlfriend who couldn't carry boyfriend

To the two people in the catering truck who helped me when I crashed my bike on the corner of Jubilee and Vernon: I didn't say thank you, so I'll say it now. You guys were awesome. Thank you! I'm all fixed up and have two new front teeth to boot! —Worst grocery run ever

Thanks to the staff of a certain Dartmouthian coffee dealership for giving me the head's up when I was in a foul mood and hung over. Your coffee and croissant suggestion was tippy-top and did the trick. I always enjoy your demeanor and chipper disposition. For what it's worth, if you ever feel under the weather keep in mind that your commonplace kindness can brighten someone's day, even if it goes unsaid. Good luck. —Ledger Queen

I know you're holding back. And I have been patiently waiting for a sign from you that maybe something will really happen between us, but I am not sure for how much longer. You know I want to kiss you in a thousand places between the top of your head and the tips of your toes, and maybe we're not suited for something long-term, but is that what either of us want or need right now? Or maybe you're just waiting to see how much longer it takes before I go crazy - I think I'm there, because I would never have written this otherwise. I just wish you were here too. —Wondering when, or if.

I've been avoiding you but we're bound to cross paths soon in this small city. I'm scared to see you but when I do, I will drown you in a sincere squeeze. It's been messy but I still care for you despite your sad boy tendencies. We deserve what we accept from others and I could not accept your exploitive behaviour any longer. —The girl who's awake every time you call
