I stumbled into Just Us Coffee barefoot like a hobo carrying a large red coffee of their competitors. I explained how I had just broken a strap on my sandal and asked if they had any tape? Smiling and welcoming, they promptly produced a large roll of silver duct tape. And allowed me to use their pristine bathroom facilities even though I wasn't a paying customer. And though I was clearly a patron of their competition. I escaped to the bathroom and fixed my sandal quickly so that I could board the Metro Transit bus back to Darkside without shame. Well a small amount of shame, from having had to McGyver my shoe with duct tape. But fuck it. Thank you so much, Just Us Coffee shop on Spring Garden, youi guys saved my ass. You rule! —Next time, I'll stop in for a cup.

I never thought I'd love a woman, but that is who you are. When I finally understood it, I thought we'd come far. Your family will never let you be you, their shame sickens me - but worse it sickens you, and put us at constant odds. So I left. BECAUSE I love you. So of course I miss you, and this has truly been the longest month of my life. You're still my best friend, why aren't you calling me? —Annie-and-me-are-meant-to-be

You are moving on to bigger places and bigger things soon. I just want you to know how proud of you I am and how special you are to me. Thank you for all the adventures and laughs (seriously, I have never laughed so much which anyone else). You may have nearly given me bald spots from noogies, but you'll always be my favorite. —Girl Who Quietly Loves You

You work reception in the VG, at a clinic I’ve had to go to every month for a long time. I pretty much hated it until you started working there. You are so upbeat and sweet, I actually enjoy waiting a long time for my appointment now because it is great just watching you interact with people. You have a 100-watt smile and your laugh seems to echo all through the halls, making a place that I used to dread a little bit brighter. It’s obvious that you love your job, so I just wanted to say thanks for the way you are. You give a gravely ill guy something to smile about. You will probably never read this, but I'm hoping you might, because you should be told every day how much of a difference you make. —Hodgkins

Lately I've been noticing a new trend in hate speech amongst Halifax and North American media in general. You can see it walking down the street, the glares people give you, the conversations being had outside of the queer community. This issue is hate towards people who are transitioning from gender, people who are gender queer, gender non-conforming. Basically this issue of hate spans all new gender politics, including the addition of other forms of discrimination. And so my love goes out to all the people I know and don't know who are currently transitioning or have transitioned. You are valuable to me and I love you and will support you any way I can. tldr- noticing hate related to new gender politics, giving love to beautiful humans the hate is directed towards. —Alfie

I mean this in the most sincere and least creepy way ever: you have the nicest butt I have ever seen on a man. Good job. —I Hate To See You Go But I Loooove To Watch You Leave

Much love and thanks to the gentleman in the peach shirt and the woman with the yellow purse on the number nine Barrington at 5pm Wednesday. You helped a woman with crutches who was in a lot of pain. I wish I had spoken up to be let out of my seat to help but instead I was one of the many who did nothing. I hope that through seeing your acts of simple human decency all of us will break the routine of apathy in city life. —Kris
