Sending love to our friendly neighbourhood garbage men

Today was garbage day. The first garbage day since my partner of over 25 years passed away. We had so many family and friends gather at our home to support and join us in our grief. It was a wonderful celebration of his life. As I organized the garage this morning, I realized my "kitchen angels" from near and far, did not fully understand our "garbage and recycling rules." We had TWO huge green garbage bags and not a clear bag in sight. I left a note on the garbage cans explaining the situation and asked them to take the extra bag "this one time.” They took all the garbage and took their time to leave a note saying, "That's no problem at all. Sorry for your loss,” Signed their names with a byline: “Your friendly neighbourhood garbage men." Such compassion warmed my heart. —Inaugural Member of Team Pat
