Just in time for those rides to the lake, bus tickets are finally back on brand. The bright-orange tickets of Metro Transit’s past have been replaced by the above blue-and-gold tokens, which neatly match the recently rechristened logos of both Halifax Transit and Halifax the city. Spokesperson Tiffany Chase says the tickets were redesigned months ago, but are just now entered circulation as the existing stock of orange tickets depletes. As The Coast has previously reported, HRM’s bus ticket sales strategy sucks. It’s a hassle for riders, and a money-loser for small businesses. So enjoy the new tickets, if you can find them.
In case you missed this on Friday, the Halifax Media Co-Op announced Pjilasi Mi'kma'ki (Welcome to Mi'kma'ki), an exciting new podcast made for and by Mi’kmaq people. Its first episode, in which Coast contributor Annie Clair tackles the Sixties Scoop, is now live and ready for your listening.
Humble Pie Kitchen’s new location is officially open for your lunching pleasure at 77 King Street in Dartmouth. Bonus—the pie-making trio has shacked up with Lemon Dogs, so you can wash your hand-pie down with something fresh-squeezed.

Care to engage in some very low risk art tonight? Eyelevel Gallery is hosting a postcard design-a-thon, Wish You Were Here, at Lion & Bright from 4-8pm, where artists (or artists-in-training) will draw the postcards of their dreams. Finished postcards will be a donation to an Eyelevel Gallery fundraiser taking place June 6 as part of Bike Week. Finished postcards must be returned by May 29, but we have faith that you can pound out a completed postcard in the time allotted.
Good theatre needs good research and development. 2b artistic co-director Anthony Black, emerging-artist-in-residence Daniel Oulton, frequent collaborator and freelance projection designer Nick Bottomley and NSCAD professor David Clark spent the month of May doing just that. There’s an open house tonight at 5pm on the third flood of NSCAD’s Academy Building, so you get right nosy. The 2b crew will be demoing some of the projects in the works and you can judge them silently. Fun! RSVP to email@example.com.
If the postcard of your dreams involves a strawberry parfait, here's how you can draw it for the Eyelevel design-a-thon.
