City Pizza opens

New pizza place City Pizza is the latest business to open its doors in the seemingly cursed retail space at 5688 Spring Garden (the former home of Aladdin Palace Restaurant, the Italian Garden and more). City Pizza owner Yasser Khalaf understands his restaurant space’s troubled reputation...but he also knows its potential. Spring Garden’s a busy street, he points out---and it’s a street that needs more pizza joints. “I know last couple people, they failed,” says Khalaf. “The way I’m working on it, I’m going to hopefully stay.” To help his business thrive, Khalaf has changed its layout---it’s now easier for Spring Garden passersby to see into the restaurant space from street level. City Pizza’s menu features a ton of tempting original pizzas, including a Mexican pie (topped with chicken, peppers, tomato and salsa) and a chicken pesto pizza (topped with pesto sauce, red onions, grilled chicken, mushroom and olive oil, and served on a tortilla shell). Khalaf’s hoping to eventually open more locations in the HRM. Free delivery’s available, and the restaurant’s currently running some pretty impressive opening specials (buy one medium pie, get a second of equal or lesser value for $2.99!).
