Palookas Boxing Club, a not-for-profit venture from former DownEast Communications owner Mickey MacDonald, is holding its official opening this Friday from 3-4pm at 2110 Gottingen, a building that sat empty for years. Various Canadian boxers will attend, including George Chuvalo (once described by Muhammad Ali as the toughest man I ever fought, says the Palookas press release). The facilitys aimed at creating an outlet for the community. (I was an indoor kid, but Ill appreciate the sentiment from a distance.)
