So I arrived in Montreal on Thursday and tore down to the Festival Mode & Design, an outdoor fashion festival off of Ste. Catherines, to see local designers deux fm, Turbine and Orphanage wow the crowds. Obviously my Halifax attitude of shrugging off the rain wasn't shared because once I got there I found an empty, water-logged stage. Ain't no wearable art, apparently.
But what was worse was the representative who told me that the show was cancelled completely and that was it, was wrong!! They did reschedule for Friday night (UPDATE: it was actually Saturday night and I missed it, but apparently over 5,000 people took in the best of Atlantic Canadian fashion, and that's fantastic!). At that point I was sitting in the bottom of a drained out pool, watching people dance, which ended with a giant owl teetering in the middle of the pool and a sing-along in the dark.
