Multiple Best of Halifax award-winning purveyors of fine PEI French fried potatoes, the popular chip truck Bud the Spud has called it a day for 2009. Through this summer it was usually found on the Grafton side of the Spring Garden library, and though in years past owners Bud and Nancy True might have pushed on into the fall, a combination of their diminishing potato supply, a windshield that needs fixing and pending insurance renewals made them call it a season before Labour Day.

As we reported in the spring, the Trues had planned to retire but circumstances had them return for one more summer in the truck. Bud informs Shoptalk that he still does plan to sell the business. May we say, on behalf of the adoring community, thanks to Bud and Nancy for the years of great fries.
